Well, if you don’t have compassion for something, then you suffer. A tiger will kill you if you get into its cage. If you just think it’s a “nut” and get in the cage with it, then it will kill you. However, if you understand that it has a tiger brain, you don’t blame it, and it you don’t try to change it. You just stay away. Lack of compassion is what leads us to play with fire when it doesn’t serve us. Narcissists are not malicious in some deep, fundamental sense. They just have different brains, as you point out. So just stay away from them and don’t promote them to positions of power and authority.
