Right. This is the view that non-duality is consciousness or is conscious. I used to believe this. It’s clear to me now that this is just a way that the illusion of self co-opts non-duality. What is simply is. It’s not conscious and it’s not aware. There’s nothing separate to be conscious or aware of anything else.

Consciousness or the “I” in “I am” is literally an illusion. It has no reality whatsoever. It also sucks the is-not out reality, making it seem dead. What seems to be happening is objectified and personalized and rendered inherently meaningless and unsatisfying.

Consciousness cannot be found because it’s an illusion. It will never be found. When the illusion of consciousness falls away, what is left is the fundamental nature of reality, which is indescribable, unknowable, not understandable, yet infinitely more convincing (to no one) and fulfilling (for no one) than the misperception of reality seen from the illusory subjective perspective.
