Reverence is just another way of saying that you’re putting her/him on a pedestal, just the same as calling her/him your guru. There is no experiencing. Experience is part of the self-illusion. There is also nowhere to get to and no one to get there.

I never mentioned subservient. The article is saying that putting gurus on pedestals is limiting. The reason it’s limiting is that it’s just another way for the self-illusion to sustain itself: “one day I will attain the great heights that s/he has attained.”

Liberation is not something that is gained or reached. Liberation is all there is. And it can sometimes be obscured by the appearance of a very fragile self-illusion. Liberation is revealed to no one when the self-illusion dies.
