I was taught to add a call-to-action by the first Medium publication editor who invited me in.

Recently, I was forced to experiment with not adding the call-to-action because they are not allowed in Medium Partner Program stories.

I discovered that removing the call-to-action changed nothing about claps or follows, but I still find myself adding them out of habit. It’s just a bad habit and thank you for inspiring me to change it.
