It’s day 19 and my penis is working better. It works like it did when I was in my early 20s. Not that it was not working at all before, mind you. I attribute the solution to this hard problem not only to my stunning wife, but also to the massive amounts of healthy fats that I’ve been consuming. These fats, such as those found in organic grass-fed butter, prevent, and probably reverse, arteriosclerosis. According to the MD author of the book called The Hardness Factor, the functional fitness of mister wiggly is one of the most reliable indicators of cardiovascular health.
Something went wrong yesterday. At 4 pm, Cindy and I were driving to the library to write our goals lists when I noticed that I was feeling tired. When I checked-in with Cindy, she reported that she was experiencing brain fog, and was craving both pizza and hot chocolate. As a side note, we have both become experientially aware of the difference between hunger (which actually feels good) and craving (which feels really bad). We figured out that it must have been the Aztec Chocolate Snackaroons that we had scoffed before leaving the house. Gluten free, certified organic, raw & vegan, these non-GMO, guilt-free treats claimed to be “no preservatives added, low-temperature dehydrated, all natural, dairy free, and made from clean ingredients,” but upon inspection, the ingredients list revealed that the third ingredient was “Organic Coconut Sugar.” Coconuts are great, but it turns out that even sugar refined from coconuts is not so great.
I woke up at 2:30 am this morning and could not get back to sleep before the alarm went off at 4 am. I woke up because I needed to poo, and I made the mistake of facebooking on the toilet. This woke me up to the point where I was bright and chipper at 2:30 in the morning. I still feel wide awake now, at 11 am, but if I were to replay the night, I would not have looked at my phone and I would have gone straight back to sleep. Also, I realized in the middle of the night that I forgot to do my afternoon meditation session. With hindsight, I realize that I could have meditated while lying down in bed between 3 and 4 am.
Anyone that I have been in a relationship with will tell you that I suffer from anxiety. I only became aware of this in the last few years. I also get down sometimes, and suffer from some amount of depression from time to time. Since I started practicing vipassana for two hours per day 11 months ago, my levels of anxiety and depression have been massively reduced. Since I started on this even more healthy lifestyle challenge 18 days ago, I have noticed that anxiety and depression have reduced even more. I seem to have almost imperceptible levels of these two internal qualities. Perhaps they are completely gone at the moment.
Today we also learned the difference between cage-free eggs and pasture-raised eggs. Chickens are essentially domesticated velociraptors; they’re omnivorous. Cage-free chickens are fed on grains. Pasture-raised chickens have a natural diet of worms, seeds, bugs, and mice — whatever they find lying around in the pasture. The eggs from pasture-raised chickens have a healthy omega-3 / omega-6 fatty-acid ratio, whereas the eggs from cage-free (grain fed) chickens do not. The pasture-raised eggs are a lot more expensive, but I think they’re worth it if you’re trying to reduce and minimize the amount of inflammation in your body.
That’s it for today. Check back soon.
